Where is my progress saved?

Only on your device. Mouthful has no accounts and no cloud save. If you delete the app, your streak, lessons and collection are lost.

Do I need an internet connection?

No. Every lesson, phrase and culture card is inside the app. You only need a connection if you tap a source link, which opens the source page in your browser.

Why can't I hear a phrase?

Mouthful speaks phrases with the voices built into your iPhone. If the speaker button is greyed out, your iPhone has no voice for that language yet. You can add one in Settings, under Accessibility, Spoken Content, Voices. The "say it like" line under each phrase still shows how it sounds.

How does review work?

Each phrase you learn comes back for review the next day, then after 3, 7, 14 and 30 days while you keep getting it right. Miss it and it comes back the next day. A phrase you get right after the 7-day gap counts as mastered.

Where do the culture cards and facts come from?

Each one is written in our own words and checked against at least two public sources, linked under it. We check them against their sources before a release.

I think something is wrong

Please tell us. Tap "Report a mistake" under the card, or email the language, the card or phrase, and what you think is correct. A link to a better source helps most. We read every message and fix errors in the next update.

How do I report a problem?

Email us and tell us what happened, what you were doing, your iPhone model and your iOS version. A screenshot helps if you have one.
